I've been getting a lot of questions on what to wear to my sessions lately. I find that neutrals and solids produce the best results! Especially when planning for an entire family, it's best to have the same color palette. You can't go wrong with jeans and a white t-shirts! I think it can work really well to start with one item, your dress or your sons' shirt, and work off of that. Everything doesn't have to be "matchy-matchy" but it's nice to work off with a light blue shirt and have the rest of the family compliment it with greys and whites.

It's also important to choose outfits that go with the season. Sweaters and boots for Fall and Winter and light dresses and for Spring and Summer. I also love to help my clients with their outfits so I'm more than happy to help if you send me links/photos. Check out the photos and links below to check out some inspo!

How do I dress my family of five?

Start with one outfit - your dress let's say - then choose the rest of the families' outfits to go with it! If you have a mustard yellow dress, pick a similar dress for your daughter, grey pants and white collared shirts for your husbands and 2 boys.

Do you recommend bold colors and patterns?

I would avoid bright colors and patterns, eg: a Hawaiian shirt with bright red, blue and yellows flowers on it. I love patterns as long as they are small and subtle to give a nice texture.

Do we all need to wear the same outfit?

Nope! You can if you'd like, I love a good "Mommy & Me" outfit, but you don't have to. I like seeing the same color palette but with a variety of styles.
